A unique Rally experience!

In 2019 we launched a Rally Experience in association with the Richard Burns Foundation. We’re thrilled to be working in association with them and to launch a Rally Experience package dedicated to the memory of the late, great Richard Burns. The Foundation has kindly provided the funding to purchase and build a pair of Toyota GT86s into rally cars. The Richard Burns Spinal Track rally experience caters for novice disabled rally drivers who need an automatic or specially adapted car.

What can you expect from the Richard Burns Rally Experience?

Our full day Rally Experiences will focus on teaching rally techniques and the skills required to drive like one of the WRC greats! You’ll be driving a Toyota GT86 or BMW E46 Compact rally car, specially adapted to include hand controls or a left foot throttle. With an instructor at your side, you’ll safely experience all the thrills and spills of driving in rally conditions, and most importantly you’ll learn how to drive sideways!

Disabled parking and toilets are available on site. Our Rally Days are free of charge, but we do ask for a £200 deposit to secure your booking. This can then be refunded after safe completion of the day. Please note that if you require lifting into the car, you will need to bring someone with you to assist with this. Your instructor can help by holding your chair or giving you some light support for transferring into the car, but none of the Spinal Track crew will be able to lift you. All rally cars have full racing seats which can be tricky to transfer in and out of so we have a sliding board for those that require one. Whilst we try and accommodate as many people as we can, you will need a full UK driving licence and good tricep function to take part (for safety reasons).

A typical Rally Experience includes…

  • Registration - Get yourself registered and sign all the relevant paperwork.

  • Driver’s Briefing - Your comprehensive safety briefing and review of safety rules

  • Helmet Fitting - We’ll kit you out with a balaclava and radio-enabled helmet.

  • Car Familiarisation - Get sat in the correct position for rallying.

  • Driving Sessions - You’ll get a number of sessions on the rally stage to build your confidence and ability.

  • Community - A chance to unwind in our social area and chat to the other drivers about your experience.

Our Rally Experiences are tailored to suit you, so that you can get the very best out of your day with us. Our experienced instructors will construct your programme based on the conditions, and the ability of all drivers taking part.

This was so much fun! I never thought I’d be able to do anything like this after my injury. So grateful that Spinal Track make this available for disabled people.
